Public urged to aid eradicate malnutrition issues

Maintaining that public have important role to play in the realisation of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a malnutrition-free country by 2022, works minister Thongam Biswajit has called, upon the public to contribute their mite in the effort of eradicating malnutrition.
He was attending the closing ceremony of the month-long National Nutrition Month 2021 organised under Prime Minister's Flagship programme Poshan Abhiyan by Integrated Child Development Scheme Imphal East and SWC Khongman Zone 4 at Khongman on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Biswajit informed that the nutrition campaign was launched in 2018 as a people's movement and National Nutrition Month is being taken up with the objective to provide nutritious food to the people, especially pregnant and lactating women.
The movement needs not only the participation of Anganwadi workers and helpers but also the public to'achieve the goal at the soonest possible, he said while stressing the need for involvement of elected representatives of local bodies and local clubs in creating awareness.
CDPO, ICDS Oinam Rasheshwari, ICDS supervisor Th Momotabi, Khongman GP Pradhan Moirangthem Nungshirei, ward members S Sunita, Ng Kiranbala and S Gogo also attended the programme among others.
A similar programme was also organised by Kumbi Sector-2 under ICDS Project Moirang at Ibudhou Ishing Chaiba community hall, Kumbi Ward No 9.Anganwadi workers and helpers of 27 Anganwadi Centres under Kumbi Sector-2, Kumbi Municipal Council former chairperson Wahengbam Bobychand Luwang, ward No 8 ex-councillor Khangembam ongbi Tilotama, Kumbi MC Ward Development Members Forum president Samom Inaocha attended the event.
