CC tea awarded Economic Times Promising Brand 2021

State's own herbal tea company, CC Tea was awarded the Economic Times Promising Brand 2021 by the Economic Times in a virtual event held Wednesday.
The award is in recognition of the progress the company has been making in research, social impact in the past few years.
CC Tea is a herbal tisane manufactured by Manipur-based SuiGeneris Agronomy Private Limited.
SuiGeneris chairman and CEO Ragesh Keisham, while thanking The Economic Times for honouring CC Tea, said: "the last two years has been tough for many businesses but we have been able to use it to our advantage.
We started our research initiatives on CC Tea to understand its health benefits after encouraging feedbacks from our users.
This recognition is also a dedication of the hard work by the many who work in our plantation, factory and in the company, who truly embody the belief that 'for every CC Tea packet that we sell, we are making someone smile'.
A release by head of SuiGeneris public rela -tions Sam Khumanthem said the firm recently concluded a six-month anti-viral and immunomodulatory research with Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati and have found that CC Tea showed high anti-viral activity to Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV.) and Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) .
It also suggests positive innate immune activation in gene analysis.
The company also signed a three-year anti-cancer research collaboration with Dr B Barooah Cancer Institute, a unit of Tata Memorial Hospital, a grant-in-aid institute of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, to assess the efficacy of CC Tea extract on molecular pathways in lymphocytes and other blood cells of cancer patients of North-East India.
The three phased research undertaking will begin with CC Tea extract being tested on blood cells taken from cancer patients to concluding with the product being tested on patients directly, the release added.
