Magulong village develops 'Everspring Park' to conserve water

Imphal, December 30 2022:
Magulong village in Tamenglong district, which is around 21 km from Tousem sub-division, has developed its own nature conservation project entitled "Everspring Park" to conserve water of the spring well for its continuous availability.
The village which shares borders with Nagaland and Assam to the north and west respectively is home to 139 families and is abundantly blessed with nature's gifts which are essential for sustaining livelihood including fruit bearing trees, vegetables and clean waterfall safe for drinking.
The project has been initiated to save, conserve and maintain the ecological balance and also to attract tourists.
The Everspring park is also blessed with natural springs which never dry up and is currently being developed to attract more tourists.
Close to the spring, one could also witness natural gardens with flowers of all types along with an area surrounded by herbal and medicinal plants.
With greenery everywhere, the Everspring park resembles a green heaven.
There is also a small green park being developed for visitors to rest for a while.
One could also see the monolith installed by the youth of the village atop the hill in addition to the Mount Kisha, a mountain of rocks, Kisha cave where freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu and 400 of her warrior soldiers took shelter and Hekani waterfall, all in and around the park.
The villagers initiated the project in 2019 as people's project under the leadership of two village youths namely Haineube Newme and Josiah Disuang.
Josiah Disuang is the project director of Everspring park.
Under his supervision, efforts are being made for planting more trees, flowers and herbs considering their key roles in maintaining ecological balance while keeping the surrounding fresh and beautiful.
The project is slated for formal inauguration on January 7, 2023 by water resources and relief & disaster management minister Awangbow Newmai.
