Imphal, December 30 2022:
Manipur People's Democratic Front (MPDF) secretary Sapam Samungou has strongly called for re-establishment of 237 schools abolished by Government of Manipur on June 12, 2019 and effectively implement Article 21 A, Article 45 and Article 46 for ensuring quality education system in the state.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, Samungou said that effective implementation of Article 21A Right to Education (provide free and compulsory education to all children of age group 6-14 years) is very much essential to make India a peaceful and progressive country.
He said that Manipur government must understand that there is no other place other than school to provide free and compulsory education as guaranteed by the Constitution of India and accordingly revive all the 237 schools, including 61 in the hills, abolished in 2019 .
Lesson plan on weekly, monthly and yearly basis apart from indirect teaching method should be chalked out to ensure 100 percent education of children, he said, adding that special subject for moral education with discipline should also be incorporated in syllabi.
The year 2023 will have 365 days and plan should be made to cover syllabus after deducting Sundays and holidays so that students could get complete knowledge, he suggested and observed that no home tutor will be required if students learn as per lesson plan and indirect teaching method.
He also recalled that there was no tuition system in Manipur around 40 years back and students during that time honoured their teachers and had high discipline.
