SPs issue regulations for New Year's celebration

Day after SP Imphal West issued regulations for picnic goers in connection with the Bye-Bye 2022 (New Year's eve) and New Year's Day 2023, SPs of Traffic Control Police and different districts have issued similar regulations to be followed by the public in order to prevent road mishaps and loss of lives and properties.
In a statement, SP Traffic Control Police Wungpam Kasar informed that traffic drive will be intensified against violators of Motor Vehicles Act, especially on December 31 and January 1 as part of preventive measures and check traffic congestion.
Strict legal actions will be initiated against driving under the influence of liquor, triple pillion riding on two wheelers, driving without helmets/without relevant documents/fastening seatbelt, rash driving, underage driving and violation of other traffic regulations.
Meanwhile, SP Imphal M Pradip, in a video message, extended wishes for the New Year's Day and appealed all to celebrate the festival peacefully.
The SP urged the public to refrain from rash and high-speed driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving at picnic spots, indulging in excessive manner at picnic spots keeping in view of the local surrounding, using license guns and fire crackers, driving without helmet or without fastening seatbelts, overloading, and underage driving.
He also urged to cooperate with police, who would be carrying out random checking to ensure adherence to the regulations.
SP Kakching Shrey Vats also extended warm wishes and issued similar regulations while adding that licence guns found during frisking operation will be seized and handed over to the respective owners after the festival.
While urging to maintain cordial manner, cleanliness and not to create unnecessary nuisance at picnic spots, the statement issued by the SP informed that visitors will not be allowed to enter picnic spots after noon and such spots will be vacated by 3.30 pm.
SP Bishnupur N Herojit also issued a press statement extending greetings for the New Year's Day and issuing regulations to ensure safe and peaceful celebration of the festival.
Apart from general regulations, the statement also urged the public to refrain from eve-teasing, harassment of women, using loudspeakers, using religious & protected places as picnic spots, and destroying forest & trees.
It also urged picnic goers not to indulge in activities unwanted by localities, and restrict the festivity duration from 9 am to 4 pm only.
