Imphal, December 30 2022:
While paying respect to the victims of Longsai village accident which occurred on December 21, Core Committee Mayangkhang Area Naga Villages has contended that the accident occurred due to negligence of the driver and further denounced some executives of the drivers' union who tried to project Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumani in a poor light while trying to cover up negligence of the driver.
Issuing a statement in this regard, Committee secretary Rk Lovingson also prohibited drivers from operating under the influence of liquor in areas under the jurisdiction of Mayangkhang Area Naga Villages Core Committee.
While backing the FoH president, Lovingson asserted that the argument made by Jadumani was valid/right and no one should try to defame him for that.
Lovingson continued that they are not looking down on the profession of drivers and acknowledge their sacrifices which ease the life of people by ensuring availability of essential items despite facing challenging situations.
However, it must be remembered that no BA/MA passed person take up the profession of driving.
Those who could not continue their studies generally take to driving as a profession.
It is unfortunate to get upset when the truth is spoken, Lovingson said, while adding that the Core Committee will stand for Sapamcha Jadumani if anyone tries to defame him.
Lovingson pointed out that people living on the road-side of Highway are vulnerable to become the victims of accident when drivers drink and drive on the highway.
As such, departments concerned should check the drivers at check post and detain them if they are under intoxication, he suggested, while cautioning that all the consequences should be borne by respective drivers if they are found driving under inebriated condition.
