Barak Cultural Festival 2022 begins

A two-day Barak Cultural Festival 2022 organised by Barak Museum & Library, Bantarapur, Cachar, Assam began at the Museum complex on Friday.
The festival started with unfurling of Library's flag and offering of floral tributes to photos of deceased donors, after which the morning session presided over by Ngariyanbam Modhuchandra Singha was held with Museum's founder Dr Haorongbam Rajmani Singha highlighting the importance of the festival.
The second session of the festival was attended by Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam as chief guest and Barak Museum and Library president Ngangom Basanta Kumar Singha as president, while Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai, Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan, RK Gopalsana, M Surjakumar Sharma, Dr Phuritsabam Birmani, Koijam Swapon and Meihoubam Seitaban were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kaushik Rai praised Dr H Rajmani Singha for establishing a museum in Assam.
He also donated Rs 5 lakh for fur ther development of the museum.
On the other hand, MLA Karam Shyam extolled Dr H Rajmani for not only keeping artefacts from Assam but also from Manipur in the museum.
The MLA also donated Rs 50,000 and assured to arrange Rs 10 lakh grant for the museum.
MLA Noorul Hassan also contributed Rs 50,000 to the museum for its development.
On the first day of the festival, an award ceremony was also held during which Sushira Vadya Bhusan was presented to Nambram Radhabinod Singha, Vadya Bhusan to Nameirakpam Narayan Singha, Adhikarimayum Kunjeshore Sharma Memorial Cash Award to Mangka Mayanglambam and Usham Angou Singha Memorial Cash Award to Angalu Thaimei.
As part of the programme, cultural dances of various communities were performed.
