Cabinet gives nod to 34 police outposts

The State Cabinet has given its consent to opening 34 police outposts along the Myanmar border.
A Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister N Biren was held this evening and the Cabinet Ministers deliberated on several issues.
Briefing media persons at his official residence at Babupara after the Cabinet meeting, Education Minister Thounaojam Basantakumar informed that the Cabinet adopted a decision to construct 34 police outposts along the Myanmar border and the construction would be done by MPHC Ltd.
Security aspects of the areas which would come under the jurisdictions of the 34 police outposts were earlier managed by Assam Rifles under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
After obtaining concurrence from the MHA, Manipur State Armed Police would be stationed at the 34 police outposts, Basantakumar said.
The Cabinet meeting also agreed to open six more police outposts along Imphal-Jiribam highway.
As decided at the Cabinet meeting, State Water Informatics Centre, Manipur would be set up under the National Hydrology Project with the Water Resources Department as its nodal agency/department.
The State Government would go for direct purchase of land for expansion of Marjing Polo Complex, Pangei in accordance with a decision adopted by the State Cabinet today.
The State Cabinet has agreed to recruit 99 staff on contract basis including 33 Veterinary officers, 33 para Veterinary staff and 33 assistants and drivers in order to open mobile veterinary units under the National Livestock Health Control Programme.
Altogether 17 Supervisors and 34 data entry operators would be recruited on contract basis under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, Basantakumar conveyed.
The Cabinet meeting also agreed to take up some railway projects as a joint venture between the State Government and the NF Railway.
The Cabinet gave its approval to the plan considering the imminent railway connection to Imphal, he said.
The meeting agreed to hire M/S Tayal Filmer and its staff in order to make the CM Da Haisi Mission more purposeful and successful, Basantakumar said.
The Cabinet also adopted a decision on recruiting staff for the social media cell of the CM Secretariat.
Bifurcation of the Imphal Central SDC Circle as SDC Lamphel and SDC Singjamei was another decision adopted at the Cabinet meeting.
Even though the State Cabinet decided to implement the Manipur Urban Area Transit Oriented Development Policy 2022, the work of bifurcating Lilong (Imphal West) Municipal Council Ward No 3 was deferred.
The State Cabinet also gave its consent to enactment of the Manipur Staff Selection Commission Rules 2022 and creation of its posts.
Notably, the Governor recently gave his assent to the Manipur Staff Selection Commission Bill which was already passed by the State Assembly.
Recruitment of 144 Community Health Officers on contract basis for the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre and some other staff for the Chief Minister's Health for All Scheme was another decision adopted at he Cabinet meeting.
The State Cabinet agreed to give grace mark of 10 to doctors who performed their duty diligently during the Covid pandemic as and when MOs are appointed for Manipur Health Services through the MPSC.
As decided at the Cabinet meeting, the State Government would go for direct purchase of a land measuring 0.75 acre for construction of a CHC at Napet Palli.
To create Manipur Venture Fund (Rs 30 crore) as a part of the Manipur Startup was another decision adopted at the meeting.
The Cabinet meeting further gave its consent to recruitment of 28 coaches of different disciplines under Youth Affairs and Sports Department.
The coaches to be appointed under YAS Department include one for archery, three for athletics, one for basketball, two for badminton, one for body-building, two for boxing, five for football, one for handball, three for hockey, one for judo, one for lawn tennis, one for shooting, two for swimming, one for table tennis, one for volleyball and two for weightlifting, Basantakumar added.
