Will help civil administration restore peace: Army officers to Governor

Governor Anusuiya Ui-key had a meeting with GOC 3 Corps lieutenant general HS Sahi, IGAR (South) major general Rajan Sharawat and IGAR (East) major general VK Nambiar at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
In a release, the Governor's sec-retariat informed that the team of officers briefed Anusuiya about the security situation in Manipur par-ticularly joint combing operations carried out by the security forces and security measures taken up by the Army/Assam Rifles in the vulnerable areas of valley as well as in the foothills and also about the multiple medical camps organised for the affected people.
The team also assured the Governor that the Army/ Assam Rifles will help the civil ad-ministration in the run up to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
On the other hand, a central team of officers of Ministry of Home Affairs led by joint secretary Ashish Kumar also meet with the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday during which the team apprised about the ar-rangements made for giving relief to the violence affected people in different relief camps.
The central team which landed in Imphal few days back had also visited various relief camps to en-quire about the grievances faced by the people there.
The team also visited Khongshang railway station in Tamenglong district to take stock of the preparations being made to store rail-fed essential commodities.
The team also informed that helicopter service have started for the people living in Moreh and Churachandpur as informed by the Union Home Minister during his visit to the state, adding that, similar service will also be started for Kangpokpi district shortly.
The Governor also shared her ideas of how relief and rehabilitation works for the affected people both in the hills and valley can be made easier.
While expressing deep concern about the welfare of the students of the state the Gover-nor requested all the Governors, Lt Governors and administrators to extend their valuable cooperation to ensure that the students from Manipur do not face any hardship in their academic pursuit.
Another Governor's secretariat release stated that in the aftermath of the ethnic clash on May 3, Manipur has been under turmoil for the last more than a month and as precautionary measure state government clamped curfew in all the valley districts as well as few affected hills districts followed by suspension of internet facility.
Many students who are pursuing their studies/higher stud-ies/professional courses in different Schools/ Colleges/Universities outside the state have been experiencing untold miseries to meet their day-to-day requirements coupled with expenditure pertaining to their study-related expenses, the release added.
