Imphal, June 08 2023:
The Manipuri (Meitei) Association, Navi Mumbai, has appealed to all the stakeholders and Government to come together and work out a solution to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
"We, the Manipuris living in Mumbai, express our deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Manipur, which threatens the peace, security and socio-economic fabric of the State", said Manipuri (Meitei) Association, Navi Mumbai in a release.
The association asserted that the root cause of this conflict lies in the massive influx of both armed & unarmed illegal immigrants from the bordering country which has led to destabilization of Manipur's demographic profile, resources and protected areas/ land.
It continued that the imbalance in land possession & purchasing rights along with the trafficking of drugs and arms through porous international boundaries poses a significant threat to the State and Nation's security.
"Any attempt to disintegrate the geography of Manipur would not only distorst its history, culture & heritage but also undermine the aspirations and identity of Manipuris.
We firmly stand for the integrity of Manipur, promoting equality and equity across all communities'', it added.
The association appealed to both the Central and State Governments to take immediate measures to restore peace & stability in Manipur.
The association also called for proactive & comprehensive actions to address the issues of illegal immigration, land rights and cross border criminal activities.
"We firmly believe in the power of dialogue, understanding and unity to overcome challenges and build a better future for Manipur.
Let us join hands in preserving the integrity of the State and upholding the values of inclusively, equality & cultural diversity that define us as Manipuris", it concluded.
