Governor briefed on security measures, relief works

Governor Anusuiya Uikey today convened a meeting with GOC 3 Corps Lieutenant General HS Sahi, Major General Rajan Sharawat, IGAR (South) and Major General VK Nambiar, IGAR (East) at the Raj Bhavan.
The military officers briefed the Governor on the security situation in Manipur particularly joint combing operations being carried out by the security forces and about the security measures taken up by the Army/Assam Rifles in the vulnerable areas of valley as well as at the foothills.
The military officers informed the Governor about the multiple medical camps organised for the affected people by the Army/Assam Rifles in both the hills and the valley districts.
The military officers assured the Governor that the Army/Assam Rifles will help the civil administration in restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey also held another meeting with a Central team of officers led by Ashish Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs today at the Raj Bhavan.
The team apprised the Governor about the arrangements made for giving relief to the violence affected people in different relief camps.
The Central team landed in Imphal a few days back and the team visited various relief camps to enquire about the grievances faced by the people there.
The team apprised the Governor that measures have been taken up to control price rise.
They also informed that helicopter service has been started for the people living in Moreh and Churachandpur districts as informed by the Union Home Minister during his visit to the State.
This service will also be started for Kangpokpi district shortly.
The team also visited Khongshang railway station in Tamenglong district to take stock of the preparations which are being made to store rail-fed essential commodities.
The Governor also shared her ideas of how relief and rehabilitation works for the affected people both in the hills and valley can be made easier.
Thousands of displaced people are presently being housed aty different relief camps spread across the length and breadth of the State.
