Khwairamband vendors warn of joining 'war'

Vendors of Khwairamband Keithel and owners of shops nearby the all-woman market organised sit-in-protest cum discus-sion on Thursday against sep-arate administration demand raised by the 10 Kuki MLA and adopted various reso-lutions and demands.
The women vendors and traders also warned of phys-ical participation in the con-flict if their demands are not honoured within three days.
Apart from forming a Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, Khwairamband Keithel Imphal, the gather-ing unanimously resolved to forward memorandum to UNO and Prime Minister against separate administra-tion in Manipur, join the fight against narco-terrorism, de-mand lifting of ban on inter-net, booking and punishing those blocking the national highway, rehabilitation of ethnic violence-affected families staying in relief camps, withdrawal of So0 signed with Kuki militants, implement NRC and start combing operation in Chura-chandpur where the violence originated with involvement of police commandos or else no combing operation in the
state.
Other points in the mem-orandum include joint ini-tiative of women of all com-munities to stop the conflict, urge MPs and MLAs to visit New Delhi and remove As-sam Rifles permanently from Manipur.
On behalf of women ven-dors of Khwairamband Kei-thel, Kshetri Tama told media persons that all the points mentioned in the resolution should be implemented by government in three days or else women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel will join the 'war' directly.
She said that both the Nupi Lal in the history of Manipur orig-inated from Khwairamband Keithel and all the women vendors of the historic mar-ket are daughters of brave women who fought Nupi Lal.
At the end of the protest, women vendors shouted sev-eral slogans against sepa-rate administration demand, withdraw So0 and protect territorial integrity of Ma-nipur.
Professor Joykumar, pro-fessor Chinglen Maisnam, AMBA functionary Tomcha and some women vendors also took part in the dis-cussion and presented their views on the present situ-ation.
