Thoubal, December 06 2022:
In connection with the controversial death of one Ksh (O) Nungshitombi alias Linthoi (22) w/o Kshetrimayum Mahesh (25) of Kakching Laithagol Leikai Kshetri Pareng, under Kakching police station on the intervening night of November 30 and December 1; police have arrested Mahesh and his mother Ibemcha Devi (52).According to a report, police arrested Ibemcha on Monday, while Mahesh was rounded up around 3 pm Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the JAC against the Suspicious Death of Linthoi continued to stage sit-in protest at Khangabok, her parental home, on Tuesday, demanding stringent punishment of the culprit(s) involved in killing Linthoi.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, JAC co-convenor Thokchom Rosan observed that when a wife dies, her husband is supposed to be the saddest person.
However, Linthoi's husband Mahesh refused to meet them and also did not join the post mortem examination.
This is a sign that he (Mahesh) was involved in Linthoi's death, Rosan contended, while demanding that befitting punishment be given to those involved in the inhumane killing so as to prevent a repeat of similar crimes against women in the future.
The co-convenor then informed that a public meeting in connection with the death will be held at Rising Union Club ground and as such, appealed to the women organisations and CSOs of the state to attend the same.
