CRPF, AR units conduct cleanliness drive

Troops of 143 Battalion CRPF, Lamphelpat organised a social service programme in the surrounding area of Merrylane village in Noney district under the supervision of its commandant Lamkhokam Lhoujem as part of "Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign".
According to a CRPF release, troops of the Battalion along with villagers cleaned the local church, removed garbage and sprayed pesticide to make the environment clean and healthy to prevent potent disease during the camp.
Deputy commandant Jackson Singh along with Inspector Nitish Kumar, SOs and personnel of the Battalion took part in the social service.
Meanwhile, Loktak Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) conducted "Plastic Se Raksha, Swachhta Hi Suraksha Plogging Drive" under Swachhata Pakhwada in collaboration with Kumbi Municipal Council at Kumbi in Bishnupur district on Tuesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that all ranks of Temporary Operating Base, Kumbi of the Battalion carried out the plog run in collaboration with local populace while picking up plastic and other wastes along the route.
A total of 25 locals participated in the event with full enthusiasm, the PRO said, adding that all ranks and local populace undertook a pledge after the drive to keep the environment clean.
