NIA to record statement of Athuan Abonmai's son

Imphal, December 06 2022:
Special Judge, NIA Manipur has accepted an application filed by the NIA Imphal for recording statement of Arai Abonmai in the Athuan Abonmai murder case.
Arai Abonmai is son of Athuan Abonmai, who was abducted by 'suspected NSCN-IM cadres' from Tamenglong Polo ground and killed on September 22 last year.
Initially, a case was registered at Lamphel police station following a complaint filed by Arai Abonmai and was then transferred to Tamenglong police station as the jurisdiction falls under it.
Following a proposal made by the Government of Manipur, the NIA Imphal Branch took up the case for investigation in September last year.
The application filed by the NIA today said the investigation of the case is at a crucial stage and involvement of NSCN-IM has been revealed.
Further, the complainant of the case, Arai Abonmai is willing to depose his statement before a Magistrate.
The Court, on perusal of the application, directed the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East to record the statement of the complainant in connection with the case.
