WAD holds awareness campaign on gender issues

Imphal, December 06 2022:
Women Action for Development (WAD), Palace Compound along with Integrated Rural Development Centre (IRDC) organised a one day awareness campaign on 'Gender, Reproductive health & Legal Mechanism of Women' in connection with 16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence under the theme 'UNITE! Activism to End Violence Against Women & Girls' at Sunusiphai Awang community hall, Bishnupur district on Tuesday.
In a release, WAD programme coordinator Shaiphu Ringneiphun conveyed that the programme was attended by WAD secretary Sobita Mangsatabam, Youth Forum for Protection of Human Rights in Manipur (YFPHR) secretary T Shadishkanta Sharma and H&WC, Phubala CHO Th Helena as presidium members along with around 100 participants.
During the event, Shadishkanta Sharma spoke on basic legal rights such as POCSO Act & Child Marriage Prohibition Act and Sobita Mangsatabam held informal discussion with participants on violence against women & children, while CHO Th Helena spoke on the topic of 'Reproductive health of women', it added.
