Imphal, December 06 2022:
Following charges and counter-charges over alleged scams in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) projects, Congress party sent a formal invitation to RD & PR minister Yumnam Khemchand for a joint inspection of the PMGSY projects in Thanlon block of Churachandpur district.
The formal invitation signed by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra was submitted to the office chamber of the minister at Old Secretariat, here, on Tuesday by an MPCC team comprising general secretaries (administration) Soibam Jiten and (minority) Md Wahidur Rahman, secretary (media) Shah Nawaj Khan and NSUI Manipur state secretary P Bankimchandra.
Interacting with the media after submitting the invitation, Jiten said that Congress party under the aegis of its president MLA K Meghachandra started assessment of PMGSY roads in remote areas of the state some months back.
The initiative was taken up in the interest of the public and the state, and not to demean the minister concerned or the government or to take political mileage but to ensure proper execution of projects for the benefits of the people, he said.
Recently, the party found the execution of PMGSY projects - package No MN03101 (Galkapkot-Gamhui Part-2) and package number MN03102 (Galkapkot-Gamhui Part-3) under Thanlon Block in Churachandpur district sub-standard and unsatisfactory.
The same was reported to the public through the media.
Following the report, the RD&PR minister himself proposed for a joint inspection of the project.
Acknowledging the proposal of the minister, Congress party sent a formal invitation to the minister for a joint inspection visit on December 10, he explained.
