Mao Keithel celebrates Advent Christmas

A cake cutting event among the people of the hills and valley along with rendition of gospel numbers marked the celebration of Advent Christmas at Mao Keithel shed near DMU campus, here on Tuesday.
The event was jointly organised by The Mao Imphal Business Union, Mao and Mao Imphal Market Coordination Committee Imphal.
Speaking on the side-lines of the programme which was organised with the main objective of strengthening love and promoting camaraderie among the people of the hills and the valley, Mao Imphal Business Union president Kapeini, while expressing contentment over the love and affection shown by the people of the valley during the last 8 years of the establishment of Mao Keithel in Imphal, said that people of the valley have been inviting the hill people for doing business at Mao Keithel for the last many years.
"We were invited in Ningol Chakkouba festival which is the grandest festival of the Meetei community by hosting feast for us.
They have also been safeguarding us while doing business at Mao Keithel and ensuring us peace, happiness and pleasure, one could get.
Therefore, to carry forward this message of peace and brotherhood, the people of Mao are also organising the Advent Christmas along with the people of the valley", he said.
The president also expressed gratitude to chief minister N Biren under whose care and support the Mao Keithel has been brought up to its present level.
According to Mao Imphal Market Coordination Committee Imphal convenor Khuraijam Athouba, who was also present on the occasion, the establishment of Mao Keithel in 2015 marked the revival of brotherly relationship between the people of the hills and valley.
Though the event of Advent Christmas is being celebrated in a humble way for the last many years, we believe that it has been done from the heart.
"Now we are able to celebrate advent Christmas in a big way as Chief Minister N Biren has officially provided a large space for Mao Keithel and we are very thankful to him for all the support provided", he added.
Gifts were also presented to those who had contributed in giving life to Mao Imphal Market Coordination Committee.
