Imphal, December 06 2022:
The Mani-pur Pradesh Congress Com- mittee (MPCC) has sent an invitation to Rural Deve-lopment and Panchayat Raj Minister Yumnam Khem- chand to a joint inspection of two PMGSY works viz; Galkapkot to Gamhui Part II and Galkapkot to Gamhui Part III under Thanlon Block of Churachandpur on December 10 .
Through the letter addressed to the Minister, the MPCC also invited the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary of RD & PR, Chief Engineer of Rural Engineering Department (RED), Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur and other officials concerned to take part in the inspection drive in the larger interest of the public.
According to the MPCC, a large sum of money was withdrawn against two road projects without executing the works properly.
Addressing the media, MPCC general secretary Soibam Jeeten Singh claimed that the two projects under PMGSY were not implemented properly as there is no sign of blacktopping while drains were constructed without paying any attention to the qualitative aspect.
Yet, it is written on signboards that the projects were completed in 2021 .
Notably, the MPCC has been going on inspection tours at different places since the past few months and highlighting deplorable conditions of many road and highway stretches.
The invitation submitted to the office of the RD & PR Minister was signed by MPCC president K Meghachandra.
It is reported that Y Khemchand wasn't at his office when the MPCC came to submit the invitation.
Saying that the MPCC has inspected some road projects after the people lodged complaints of poor implementation of Govt projects, Jeeten maintained that most of the road stret-ches they inspected weren't comparable to the information written on the sign- boards.
He stated that their inspection tours were not aimed at taking political advantage but were driven by the larger interest of the State.
