Guv reviews development projects in Noney

Noney, December 06 2022:
Governor La Ganesan visited Noney district and reviewed various developmental projects in the district on Tuesday.
The Governor also interacted with district level officers (DLOs), representatives of CSOs, village chiefs and locals and heard their grievances and assured them of all possible help.
He also met with family members of Marangching (Makhuam) landslide victims, expressed his deep sorrow and assured support to them especially the orphans in their education.
Many memorandums/presentations were also submitted to'the Governor by various CSOs during his visit.
Speaking at the interaction programme held at Longmai multipurpose hall at Noney town, the Governor assured that whatever issues and problems raised by the people will be looked into and he will ask the authorities concerned including the chief minister to do the needful at the earliest in the larger interest of the people.
He said that though Noney district is presently a back ward district, it will be one of the most developed in Manipur as new infrastructure developmental works are now being undertaken by the government.
Most importantly, Noney is now included in the country's railway network, he added.
The Governor further mentioned that due to prompt action of the government and with the full cooperation of the people, Covid-19 pandemic is almost under control in the state due to the collective responsibility of both government and people living in the state.
On TB elimination campaign, La Ganesan stated that as the centre is committed to eliminate TB by 2025, all of us need to cooperate and contribute to ensure elimination of the disease.
Stating that a clean India campaign is equally important and also the responsibility of all, the Governor conveyed that it is a mass movement launched by the Government of India to make the country 'Clean India' as dreamed by Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Cleanliness would keep everyone happy and healthy in all respects like physically, mentally and socially, he maintained.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of drug cases in the state, the Governor observed that some foreign forces are trying to harm the people especially the youth by smuggling drug from across the border such as Myanmar.
"We should not succumb to the threat but unite to fight the menace," he said, while urging people to cooperate in the state government's effort to tackle the drug menace.
As part of the programme, cultural troupes of Chiru, Inpui and Rongmei tribes presented their cultural dances for the Governor.
Later, Governor La Ganesan visited the railway construction sites at Noney area including the world's highest pier rail bridge and inspected the on-going works.
He asked the railway officials to work as per the stipulated timing of completion.
Hill Areas Committee (HAC) chairman D Gangmei also attended the interaction programme.
Earlier, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by Noney deputy commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamson and SP Sandeep Gopal Das on his arrival at the hall.
It may be mentioned that La Ganesan is the first Governor of Manipur to visit Noney district.
Talking to the media persons on the sidelines, the Governor said that he will visit all the 16 districts of Manipur and assess the grievances faced by the general public.
