Kakching, December 07 2021:
Several Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) have hailed the Chief Minister and the state government for appointing caretaker chairpersons for 26 municipal councils, as notified by an order of state deputy secretary (MAHUD) Mohd Yasser Ahmed Khan on December 4.Addressing a press meet held at Kakching Uyok Ching on Tuesday afternoon, Sugnu Municipal Council caretaker chairperson Moirangthem Sarat informed that the 5 -year term of ULBs ended in February this year.
However, the elections for the same could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic and as such, the ULBs were being looked after by the respective district administrations.
