Imphal, April 13 2022:
Though it has been one month since the second term of the Biren-led BJP government was formed, the government has not been able to take a decision on its ministry expansion to fill up the remaining ministerial berths.
Soon after the oath taking ceremony, the Biren government inducted Thongam Biswajit, Yumnam Khemchand, Govindas Konthoujam, Nemcha Kipgen from BJP and Awangbow Newmai of NPF while leaving the rest of the ministerial posts.
The party is waiting for further instructions from the central leaders of the party for the ministry expansion.
However, source privy to the situation said that the ministry expansion of Biren government is likely to take place by April 20 .
Mention may be made here that distribution of ministerial berths and swearing in ceremonies for states like Goa, Uttarakhand, UP and Punjab, which had state assembly elections along with Manipur, have already been completed.
The sanctioned number of ministers for the state is 12 including the chief minister.
The Biren government is yet to fill in six more posts of ministers.
BJP won absolute majority with 32 seats out of 60 in the recently concluded state assembly elections.
Its ally NPF won five seats and the party has got one ministerial berth.
