Moreh, April 13 2022:
Transfer of seven nurses without replacement till date has severely affected normal functioning of sub-district hospital, Moreh, and as such community leaders and concerned citizens of the border town have drawn immediate attention of the chief minister in this regard.
According to hospital sources, seven nurses have been transferred but no replacement has been made till date.
While two nurses each of the hospital have been utilised by PHC Moreh and Thoubal Nursing College, three others were transferred to different places thereby rendering the only hospital in the border town unable to function effectively due to acute staff shortage.
Despite shortage of manpower, nurses currently posted in the hospital are working round the clock dividing into morning/evening/night shift consequently taking a toll, physically and mentally, as they are unable to get rest even for a single day.
Hospital staff faced no problem when security personnel were deployed around the hospital earlier but the place has been frequented by men in inebriated condition after dusk thereby creating fear among doctors and nurses, a hospital staff said and demanded re-deployment of security at the hospital.
Meanwhile, some community leaders appealed to authority concerned and the chief minister to stop transferring of staff of sub-district hospital Moreh if no replacement is to be made.
They also said that Moreh is only around 110km from Imphal and the lone hospital in the border town is currently extending service to not only Moreh public but also to patients from Myanmar as the hospital at Tamu town is yet to function properly.
Minor operation at the hospital also stopped after functioning briefly, they said and informed further that there is no technician to operate the ultrasound machine while one X-ray technician has been transferred recently and yet to provide replacement.
