Bishnupur, April 13 2022:
Y Modhu, Chief Advisor, National People's Party, Moirang Block has reacted strongly against the spread of allegedly harmful propaganda against Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti.
Addressing a press conference held at Moirang Philem Leikai, MLA Office, Y Modhu stated that the propaganda against the MLA was being spread by rival political candidates.
Y Modhu said that Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti had started taking up developmental work less than a week after he achieved victory in the election with a zeal to serve the people.
However, the aforementioned political rival accused the MLA of having a criminal case in the past and excluding this information in his nomination papers.
"As a result, a case was filed against the MLA with the demand to remove him from his present post.
In continuation of this smear campaign, an application was also filed at the Revenue Department to verify the assets registered in the name of the MLA, his spouse and dependent", he added.
The Chief Advisor also informed that the MLA had submitted all relevant documents in this regard but the propaganda against his good name continues unabated.
He strongly condemned the act of smearing the reputation of the MLA and casting his image in a bad light among the people of Moirang.
Y Modhu further enumerated several works undertaken by Thongam Shanti adding that the promises which had been made to the public prior to the election were now slowly being fulfilled.
