Imphal, April 13 2022:
In response to imposition of restriction under Section 144 CrPC by the Senapati district administration, Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO), Nagaland has countered with its No Entry' restriction in Dzukou Valley and Kezoltsa.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, SAYO stated that the imposition of restriction under Section 144 of CrPC by District Magistrate, Senapati, Manipur from April 6, 2022 near Manipur border directly affects the land of southern Angamis.
"The incapacitated action of the District Magistrate, Senapati is unreasonable, misleading and provocative to the peaceful coexistence between the neighbouring villages as the SAYO has suspended the indefinite National Highway Bandh in our jurisdiction owing to the Angami Public Organization (APO) Golden Jubilee Celebration.
No forces whatsoever, internally or externally are responsible for keeping the bandh in abeyance except to honourably extend our sincere respect to Angami Public Organization (APO)," SAYO said.
The organisation then said that the bandh suspension came in view of the resolution and assurance given by Tehyimi People s Organization (TPO) on March 29, 2022, so as to honour and respect the customary practice of resolving disputes by the highest decision-making body of Tenyimi People.
And until the dispute is resolved by TPO, there is no reason to impose Sec 144 of the CrPC citing apprehension of law and order near Manipur boundary, it maintained.
"Consequently, SAYO is determined to take precautionary measures and compelled to impose 'No Entry restriction' in Dzukou Valley and Kezoltsa against encroaching parties from the state of Manipur till further notice.
Failure to comply with the restrictions, in constraint, SAYO shall initiate its own course of action against illegal trespassers.
Being the custodian of Dziikou Valley and Kezoltsa, SAYO will take all necessary steps to defend and protect its ancestral land," SAYO said.
It also appealed to the Manipur government to take steps for revoking Section 144 of CrPC from the said area, "and to meet our demands of withdrawing the armed personnel and its remnants from Kezoltsa to maintain lasting peace and tranquillity among the people" .
