N Kayisii named NPP legislature wing leader

Imphal, March 11 2022:
During a meeting held on Friday with party's national president Conrad Sangma, National People's Party (NPP) has appointed N Kayisii as party's legislature wing leader.
NPP secured seven seats in the 60-seat Assembly.
N Kayisii got elected from Tadubi AC.
The meeting chaired by Conrad Sangma was attended by senior leader and former deputy chief minister Y Joykumar and all the seven elected candidates of the party.
Successful candidates of the party are Th Shanti of Moirang, Janghemlung Panmei of Tamenglong, Kh Loken of Wangoi, M Rameshwor of Kakching, Noorul Hassan of Kshetrigao and N Nalini of Oinam AC apart from N Kayisii.
Notably, caretaker chief minister N Biren Singh had, while responding to a query raised by media persons just after completion of declaration of election results on Thursday, said that NPP will not be part of the new government though the party was one of the coalition partners in the previous term.
BJP and NPP had war of words and criticised each other during election time though worked together in the previous government.
During an election campaign, BJP leader and NEDA convener and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa had even announced that NPP will not be part of the new government in Manipur and Biren reiterated the same on Thursday.
NPP president Conrad Sangma too criticised BJP during numerous election rallies.
Meanwhile, Sapam Nishikant, who got elected as independent candidate from Keishamthong AC in the just concluded election, has extended support to the new government to be formed by BJP.
He also submitted letter of support to the Governor on Friday and copy of the same to BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda at Thambal Shanglen later.
