Jiribam, March 11 2022:
Just a day after the result of the State Assembly poll was declared, post-poll violence erupted in Jiribam district as certain miscreants allegedly assaulted the family members of Imphal West BJP Minority Morcha vice president Md Sadam including his parents at his residence at Lalpani Part-II this morning at around 8.30 .
It is alleged that certain supporters of JD (U) carried out the offence for supporting the BJP candidate N Budhachandra in Jiribam Constituency.
Notably, it is the JD (U) candidate Md Ashab Uddin who emerged victorious in Jiribam AC.
The injured persons are Md Makram Ali (58), Angurun Nessa (52), Abeda Begum (30) and Makhura Kamrul Islam (38) .
They are undergoing treatment at Jiri Hospital.

Speaking to the media, Sadam said that some supporters of JD (U) lobbed fire crackers toward his house on the pretext of celebrating the win of Md Ashab Uddin at around 8.30 am today.
Saying that his family members asked the JD (U) supporters to celebrate their victory elsewhere, Sadam claimed that the group instead hit his parents and wife and threatened to kill him.
Claiming that the Jiribam police arrived late though they informed them of the alleged assault in time, Sadam asked if giving votes to a candidate of one's choice is morally wrong.
He then sought the intervention of the authorities concerned to ensure their safety in future.
Soon after the news of the alleged assault spread, a large number of women stormed the house of one Moirangthem Promen and vandalised his shop and motorcycle.
The irate crowd left after a team of Jiribam police rushed to the site.
Meanwhile, Jiribam District Magistrate W Malemnganba Chenglei has imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in the whole of Jiribam to prevent breach of peace and tranquillity.
