Imphal, March 11 2022:
Unsuccessful Lok Janashakti Party (R) candidate of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Khurai assembly constituency Heisnam Subash described as unfortunate that money power swept the just concluded election in respect of Khurai AC.
Addressing media persons at his Kongpal Kongkham Leikai residence on Friday, Subash said that seven candidates including him contested for the Khurai seat but some wealthy candidates including the incumbent MLA distributed money to the voters.
It was very unfortunate that voters of Khurai AC were swayed away by money power and this indeed was not a good sign for the future of people of the constituency, he said, adding that the vivid example of use of money power in election was the success of incumbent MLA who remained separated from the people of the constituency for nearly four and half years but registered win in the electoral battle.
According to Subash, he had been working hard to bring development in the constituency by forming 120 different committees but the just concluded election had no sign of bearing any fruit.
He also said that he contested the election with high hope of getting support of the people in return for the development works he had done but voters of the constituency opted for inducement.
Regarding rumour being spread that he went hiding and supported another candidate just before the election, Subash clarified that there was no such thing and he did not support any candidate.
He then appealed to all concerned not to spread such rumour and promised to work for welfare of the people of the constituency further.
