Muvanlai, RULE, YWC triumph in Superplate Tournament

Imphal, March 11 2022:
The MNCA Superplate Tournament on Friday saw Muvanlai (New Lambulane), RULE (Malom) and YWC (Langthabal) emerge the victors.
Muvanlai outplayed PSC (Khuyathong) by 38 runs at Oriental College Ground.
The New Lambulane side opted to bat and posted 204/10 in 38.1 overs.
Lientinthang Kipgen led the Muvanlai innings with 59 off 56 balls, with contributions from L Thangsuanlian (21 not out), Khaikhotinlal Haokip (18), Avinash (18), Seihboi Vaiphei (14) and Gouminlun Kipgen (12).Muvanlai then produced a discipline 1 bowling attack to make sure of their victory.
PSC batted out 40 overs but still shoirt came up short of their target as fighting efforts by Ningthoujam (41) and Laishram Devwart (33) were not enough.
Gouminlun Kipgen and Avinash Asmali did the major damage to the PSC's batting lineup as the Muvanlai duo finished with 3 wickets each while Seihboi Vaiphei and Khaikhotinlal Haokip bagged one each.
Earlier, Yengkhom Bhomendro claimed 4 scalps, Lamabam Martin and Ningthoujam Ranjan took 2 each, and L Prasantajit Sharma and Tinjam Nikhil accounted for 1 apiece.
Gouminlun Kipgen, who snapped 3 wickets and scored 12 runs, earned the man-of-the-match accolade.
RULE, meanwhile, eased their way to a 5-wicket win over RCA (Lilong) at Luwang-pokpa Cricket Stadium.
The Malom squad bowled out RCA for 85 in 32 overs and went on to knock off their target in 18 overs, with 5 wickets to spare.
Ayekpam Rakesh (25), Chabungbam Ishworjit (22 not out), Sanjenbam Suresh (12) and Sanjenbam Ananda (2 not out) were run-getters in their team's convincing victory.
Earlier, Thokchom Kishan, Nongthombam Sorojkumar and Jay Hourakcham picked up 2 wickets each as Nongthombam Denin, Sanjenbam Ananda and Ayekpam Rakesh chipped in with 1 each.
Ayekpam Rakesh was named man of the match.
In other match, YWC beat KCC (Koongba Bazar) by 29 runs at Langthabal Public Ground.
Asked to bat first, YWC were all out for 149 as Seram Robinson took centre stage with a knock of 73 (not out) off 120 balls, followed by Maibam Subash, Ngangbam Bikramjit (18) and Ngangbam Bishwash (16) in their innings.
In reply, wasteful KCC batted through 40 overs but could only manage 149 runs.
Ningombam Tony shone with 3 wickets, Singthoi Nandeibam bagged 2, and Yumnam Sheiteendra, Loktongbam and Kongbrailakpam Sanjit Sharma took 1 each to help their side seal the win.
Seram Robinson (73 not out) walked away with the man-of-the-match trophy.
