A journey to revive and strengthen the bond shared between Manipur and Manipuri people settled in different parts of the North East region was flagged off from the office of United Committee Manipur (UCM), Lamphelpat today.
The expedition organised by UCM was flagged off by its president Joychandra Konthoujam and consultative committee member H Ibotombi Khuman.
Ibotombi Khuman said that the expedition is aimed at identifying and addressing the issues and problems faced by Manipuri diasporas in different States of the North East.
The expedition team would also take part in the North East Handlooms and Handicrafts Mela which would be held at Abhoy Nagar, the royal palace of Tripura starting from March 12, Joychandra Konthoujam said.
He said that the UCM would organise a training programme on Manipuri handloom and handicraft for peoples of the North East region, particularly Manipuri diasporas at Imphal.
The expedition would also cover Manipuri settlements of Meghalaya, he added.
