State logs 22 fresh cases from seven districts

Even as the grip of Covid-19 pandemic seems to have tightened in the state once again, government bulletins on Wednesday reported 22 new positive cases from seven districts, out of 270 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus registering 8.15 per cent positivity rate.
Wednesday's detection is the highest since March 2, which recorded 32 cases.
The 22 fresh cases are residents of Imphal West (11), Imphal East (5), Senapati (2), Bishnupur (1), Chandel (1), Kakching (1) and Ukhrul (1) districts.
Wednesday also reported five recoveries from home isolation whereas no death case was reported in the last 24 hours.
Number of active cases rose to 79, out of which 70 are in home isolation.
As of Wednesday, nine out of 16 districts of the state have active Covid cases.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2120 lives including seven CAPE personnel and infected 1,37,345 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.
The virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people, out of which 61 had received second doses of Covid vaccine.
There are 14 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 47 in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 11,557 positive cases and 118 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 75 new positive cases and no fatality.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month is 8.21 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 147 D-type and 53 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 3302 vaccine doses administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,95,589, out of which 12,61,998 had received second doses and 1,14,732 precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48810), Imphal East (30478), Thoubal (10165), Churachandpur (11054), Kangpokpi (3137), Tamenglong (3478), Bishnupur (9846), Senapati (2495), Ukhrul (3280), Kakching (6897), Chandel (2731), Noney (1161), Tengnoupal (1201), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1036), and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,262 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,946 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,20,658 tests per million population against the national aver age of 6,14,406 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate came down to 98.40 per cent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands 8.50 per cent.
