Floods ravage valley region; 1 killed

The flood situation in the Manipur turned grimmer on Saturday with incessant rains lashing the State in the last few days.
Surging flood waters have already claimed the life of one person in Thoubal District.
Four breaches in Thoubal River had caused severe floods in the District affecting Yairipok Singda, Foudel, Thoubal Moijing and Kshetri Leikai Moirang Palli areas.
Paddy fields and offices in these areas are under water at the moment.
Paddy fields in Toubal Moijing and Tentha including the residential areas have been flooded.
The National Highway 102 Imphal -Moreh road, Thoubal police station and DC Office Thoubal are also reeling under severe flood situation.
The road connecting Wangbal and Wangjing area is also reported to be badly affected.
Residential area of Khangabok part one, two and three under Khangabok Assembly constituency are flooded and people have now taken a shelter in a relief camp.
The Kakching River has overflowed and Irengband, Pallel, Kakching, Wabagai, Lamjao and Langmeidong are flooded.

BJP Yuva Morcha Thoubal District and Khangabok Mandal under the guidance of Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Pradesh had reached out to the flood relief camps at Samram and Khangabok part one under Khangabok Assembly Constituency and provided food items.
In a more severe case, flood water has caused twenty feet breach along Imphal-Moreh road area between Bongyang and Sinam Village.
Moreover, landslide had cut off Tengnoupal and Saibong Village and many vehicles are stranded along Imphal-Moreh road.
In Imphal Area, Lamphel remains flooded.
PC Lawmkunga Chief Secretary conducted a survey of the flood situation and had announced that relief fund will be handed out to respective deputy commissioners.
Manipur Public Service Commission Office and Imphal Hotel are flooded.
Flood at Uripok Cheirap Court had halted many activities of the district court.
Naoremthong, Shamushang, Lamboi Khongnangkhong area are flooded.

Moreover Keishamthong Kabui Khul, Singjamei Hao Lampak, Kakwa Sorokhaibam Leikai, and vast area under Keishamthong assembly constituency remain flooded due to incessant rain.
AK Mirabai Social Welfare Minister also distributed essential commodities to the flood affected areas of Takyel.
One man drowned .
One person was drowned at Langmeidong in Thoubal District on Saturday.
He is the first known victim of the widespread floods in the state.
He was identified as Yumnam Ibomcha (60) an employee in the electricity department at Langmeidong.
Meanwhile, reports from Tamengong District say that the district is facing landslips and the major river and tributaries are in spate.
Some cattle had also been washed away.
Meanwhile, the Government has opened two helplines.
