Sit-in protest staged against liquor legalisation

Demanding the revocation of State Cabinet's decision to legalise liquor, a sit-in protest was staged at Langjing in Imphal West district today.
The protest was staged by Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in association with All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), NIMPAL and Women Welfare Association, Langjing Awang Maning Leikai as a part of the ongoing democratic protest against the Cabinet decision, said a press release by CADA.
During the protest, slogans such as 'Revoke Cabinet decision to legalise liquor at the earliest', 'Save the lives of people', 'Save Women's lives' etc were raised.
Speaking at the occasion, NIMPAL Secretary, Ima Soraisam Shanti expressed discontent that the State Government has failed to honour the contributions of women folk who have been struggling to save the precious lives of the youths in particular from drugs and alcohol.
Reacting against the baseless reasons given by the Government, she demanded the immediate revocation of the Cabinet decision in the interest of all.
