Govt confers awards on 8 excellent teachers

Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has stated the job of teaching fraternity is indeed immense in moulding the personalities of students who will determine the fate of future society.
The Chief Minister was delivering a speech during Teachers' Day celebration 2015 at the DM College, Imphal campus on Saturday.
On the occasion, State Award was conferred on eight distinguished teachers.
The award recipients were Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, Imphal West Principal Ningthoukhongjam Ibechaobi Devi, Poiroukhongjil High School, Imphal East Head Master in-charge Mutum Rajendro, Thiwa Junior High School, Senapati Head Master in-charge Joseph Lamba, Lilong Higher Secondary Madrasa, Lilong Lecturer Lourembam Nandakumar, Konjeng Junior High School, Bishnupur Head Master in-charge Phairenbam Arunkumar, Gandhi Memorial Government High School, Churachandpur Head Master in-charge CL John, Kamjong High School, Ukhrul Head Master in-charge Huiyong Ashok and Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Jiribam Principal in-charge Chongtham Dhirendra Singh.

The prestigious State Award carries Rs 10,000 in cash, one year service extension and a citation each.
Chief guest of the function, CM Ibobi added that human resource is the principal backbone of a developed nation and part of it is health and a lot many more.
He noted that despite its size, Manipur has registered low infant mortality rate which is still high in several States of the country.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of raising the literacy rate of Manipur and noted that the literacy rate of male still dominates female pace by 15 percent.
He said efforts are needed to bridge the existing gap and equalize the literacy rate.
Expressing his desire to uplift the standard of women in the society, Ibobi said women are always seen here in the forefront whenever a major issue arises.
Meanwhile, Ibobi explained that there is a perimeter of every Government and so obscurities often make problems.
Manipur is a multi-ethnic State and the Government is committed to working for the welfare of the people, he asserted.
President of the event, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stated that life of those people who disregard teachers is tasteless.
He said teachers deserve high respect from all sections of the society.
The Deputy CM underlined the need for producing good students for a better society for which teachers are taking the key role in fulfilling it.
Education Minister M OKendro also spoke on the occasion.
He made an earnest appeal to all educational institutes of the State to work out a strategy to recover the syllabi affected by the two-month long agitation over the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) .
The teaching fraternity needs to put maximum effort to recoup the syllabi by running classes even on holidays considering the loss and assured possible help from the Education Department to do the needful.
CM Ibobi and his deputy Gaikhangm led the participants in paying floral tributes at the photo of former President of India Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on the occasion.
Minister and MLAs were also present at the event where appointment letters were distributed to 335 teachers.
The Teachers' Day celebration was jointly organised by Education (S), State Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan Society, Rajya Madhyamik Sikhsha Abhiyan Society, Higher Technical Education, Adult Education, Directorate of Language Planning & Implementation, Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.
