Imphal, September 05 2015 :
Four frontal tribal organisations on Saturday decided to uphold the process of unifying tribal communities of Manipur and "fight together" for securing "a common political future" with full conviction.
This was one of the five resolutions adopted after a joint meeting of United Naga Council (UNC), Zomi Council (ZC), Hmar Inpui (HI) and Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) held in Imphal.
According to a joint declaration issued by the four organisations, the meeting "seriously viewed" the prevailing situation in Churachandpur.
After a threadbare deliberation, the first resolution outrightly rejected the three Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 .
The second resolution strongly condemned the "the brutal action of Manipur state security forces" which killed eight "innocent people" including a minor boy and inflicting injuries to "hundreds of people" in Churachandpur.
While conveying condolence to the bereaved family members of the victims or the "martyrs", the third resolution endorsed and appreciated the decision of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), Churachandpur for withdrawing its earlier decision of demanding ex-gratia and government jobs to the next of kin of the "tribal martyrs" .
Terming the State Government "communal", the fourth resolution decided to firmly uphold the unity process of the Manipur tribals and agreed to fight together for securing "a common political future courses and issues" with full conviction." The final resolution decided that the oragnisations will hold another joint meeting at the earliest.
The joint declaration was signed by UNC President Gaidon Kamei; Hmar Inpui President Dr John Pulamte; Kuki Inpi Manipur President Thangkhosei Haokip and Zomi Council President LB Sona.
On August 31, three Bills -- The Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill, 2015, the Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015 and The Manipur Shop & Establishment (2nd Amendment) Bill, 2015 were passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
