Tamenglong, September 05 2015 :
Zeliangrong civil organizations of Tamenglong district have sought timely intervention of the Prime Minister in the current disorder in the State and urged him to safeguard the rights of the tribal people.
A joint memorandum was shot off to Prime Minister Nerendra Modi in this regard on Saturday after a joint meeting of Zeliangrong civil organizations of Tamenglong held at Zeliangrong Baudi office, Glorylane Tamenglong district headquarter.
The memorandum warmly welcomed the Peace Accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) on August 3 last in New Delhi.
The three bills passed by the Manipur Assembly including MLR & LR (Seventh Amendment) Bill 2015 at the behest of the communal State Government of Manipur on August 31 last directly violates and exploits the rights of the tribal living in Manipur, said the memorandum jointly signed by Agipou Pamei, chairman Zeliangrong Baudi Tamenglong Zone, Asinliu, president Zeliangrong Pui Baudi Tamenglong Zone and Donponang Daimei, secretary Zeliangrong Youth Front Tamenglong Zone.
Urging the Prime Minister to immediately dismiss the 'communal Government of Manipur' and impose President's Rule to safeguard the tribal peoples in the State, the memorandum also condemned the 'No Naga in Manipur' statement made by some MLAs during just concluded Manipur State Assembly and asked the Prime Minister to book the concerned MLAs under National Security Act (NSA) for directly violating and disowning the rights of the Nagas.
The memorandum which was sent through the Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong also demanded the three MLAs of Tamenglong to step down on moral grounds at the earliest.
