The Joint Action Committee for the Protection of Tribal and Minority People's Right, Jiribam constituted during a joint meeting of student bodies of Hmar, Paite, Thadou-Kuki and Bengali (Hindu & Muslim) and various social organi-zations of Jiribam at Buthangkhal yesterday has resolved to impose a 48-hour vehicles bandh along Silchar-Imphal Highway and Jiribam-Tipai-mukh road from 6 am of September 7 .
In a statement, the newly formed JAC said that the meeting minutely discussed the three Bills passed by the State Legislative Assembly.
Condemning the brutality of the State security personnel who allegedly opened fire on the protesters in Chura-chandpur town and killed eight people, the meeting also resolved to observe a candle light vigil at 6.30 pm today as a mark to respect to the departed souls.
To protest against the three Bills, the JAC has called a 48-hour vehicles bandh along Silchar-Imphal Highway and Jiribam-Tipaimukh road.
However, medical services, religious duties, emer- gency services and media will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
