National Postal Week underway

The second day of the National Postal Week was observed as Savings Bank Day by Manipur Postal Division.
On this occasion, a special programme was organised at Manipur Police Training College, Pangei for the newly recruited police personnel and Sub-Inspector groups to spread awareness about the importance of various useful saving schemes and insurance available at Post Offices in Manipur which was attended by more than 400 trainees and officers from the college.
Speaking at the hall of Manipur Police Training College, Pangei, Vinod Kumar, Director (Posts), Manipur chief guest of this function encouraged all personnel and officers of the college by saying that the day a police man wears uniform the risks for her/his life increases thousand times and in dedication to their duty most of the police personnel don't plan for the future while they should plan at an early age.
Th Basanta, Assistant Director, MPTC also motivated trainees and serving officers to subscribe themselves under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and PMJJY which are providing insurance cover to the subscriber at very low rate of Rs 1 (one) per month only.
Th Basanta also urged the trainees of the college to take advantage of the savings schemes.
He stressed the importance of getting their lives insured as the life of a policeman is filled with challenges.
Also after the end of the maturity of the insured term, the insurance can get a huge sum of money and thus becomes like a good saving scheme.
Nasir Ahmed, Inspector of Posts, highlighted the features of Postal Life Insurance like High Bonus and Low Premium.
He also mentioned about the highest bonus offered by PLI.
Further he highlighted that loan facility is also available under this scheme while L Tiken Singh, Asstt Suptd of POs explained about the different Saving Schemes that are on offer like Recurring Deposit, National Saving Certificate etc.
Th Gandhi, ME Divisional Office, also gave the importance of Postal schemes as it reaches to the common man in all localities.
S Homeshori Devi, Bureau Chief (Philately) Imphal HPO threw light on Sukanya Samridhi Yojana for the welfare of the girl children below 10 years.
She described that if parents invest Rs 1000 per month for a girl up to 14 years then the girl will get more than Rs 6,78, 000 after 21 years.
She informed the gathering that 9.2 pc is being given under this scheme which will be calculated compounded annually.
In addition to this there is provision of income tax rebate on the amount invested by the parents in this scheme.
She advised the trainees to make their family members and relatives aware of this scheme so that they can also support for the bright future for a girl child.
An interaction session was also held.
Director declared that a special arrangement for assistance of trainees and officers will be made on Oct 12 and 13 in filling up the form etc.
The function ended with Gandhi's vote of thanks speech.
On the other side a meeting was held with the savings bank agents of Post office at Imphal head post office and their difficulties were sorted out through discussions with R Kumar, Suptd POs.
