World Cerebral Palsy Week

The World Cerebral Palsy Week was celebrated here today at Manipur Press Club under the aegis of the Spastic Society of Manipur (SSM).
State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities L Nabakishwar and Rehabilitation Council of India, North East Zonal Coordination Committee Chairperson Laishram Tokendra Ricky attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Establishment of the a State level cerebral palsy club, felicitation of successful persons with cerebral palsy and talent show were the main highlights of the function.
Notably, the Spastic Society of Manipur is an extension centre of the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities which functions under the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
As a part of the World Cerebral Palsy Week, a games and sports meet was held on October 7.Moreover, a free health camp for assessment of vision, hearing and physical defects would be held on October 12.This would be followed by an entertainment programme titled 'Fun Fete' on October 14 .
