CCpur/TBL, October 10 2015 :
With the detection of four more positive cases of dengue, the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease in the district has climbed to 14 .
At the same time, no more case of dengue has been reported from Chandel district other than the two cases detected at Moreh a couple of days back, according to CMO, Chandel.
The new cases in Chura-chandpur are detected among the 56 samples sent for test on Wednesday.
Results for thirty other samples taken yesterday, and nine more today are still awaited, accor- ding to Dr Thangchinkhup Guite, Chief Medical Officer Churachandpur.
He said that the total number of patients who have so far been tested positive in the entire district as of today has reached 14 .
The CMO said that blood samples of nearly 80 people with Dengue-like symptoms have been tested so far, out of which 14 were found positive although no serious case has been reported so far.
A health advisory, issued by the department, has been published widely in local dailies to create awareness about the disease, said the health official, adding that people need to take precautions to save themselves from mosquito bites.
Fogging exercises and house-to-house survey have been conducted by the department as part of its efforts to fight the menace.
Meanwhile, no more case of Dengue has been reported in Chandel district other than the two cases in Moreh reported recently.
Dr Romy Ngoru, CMO, Chandel stated that in response to the two confirmed cases from Moreh, the District Malaria Officer, Chandel and district staff of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme have gone to Moreh and taken up appropriate preventive and control measures like fogging, sprea-ding awareness and elimi- nation of breeding sites.
The doctors and concerned staff of health services and hospitals of the district have been put on alert for quick and appropriate response.
Awareness in the form of poster campaigns have been taken up.
The CMO stated that dengue is spread by a virus and 99.79 per cent of reported Dengue cases can be cured by proper treatment.
As the virus is spread by a type of mosquito called Aedes aegypti, which is not common in the district, prevention of water collection in and around houses or emptying of water collected in pots, cups, tyres, flower pots, fridges, etc eliminates the breeding sites and easily prevents the spread.
While stating that fogging is carried out only in areas where dengue has been reported, the CMO urged the public to report to health centres or hospitals if they have been suffering from high fever, severe headache, body pain, joint pain, pain on eye movement, rash/red spots.
