Dr Mangsatabam Nalini Devi who recently completed her research on 'Meitei Angangi Mahoushagi Mashanashing' was felicitated today at Hotel Classic.
Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, titular king of Manipur Meidingngu Leishemba Sanajaoba shared his concerns about the present trend of children's education which has totally ignored the significance of inculcating traditional and cultural values.
While stressing on the importance of plays to the holistic growth of children to imbibe both social values and physical fitness the titular king said modern education system has led to obsessive bookish knowledge and give unnecessary burden to the children.
He feels that children deserve leisure and fun time and cultural values need to be inculcate on them.
He explains the rich moral values and teaching ingrained in the traditional plays to instill the cultural practices among the next generation.
The function was organized by the Centre for Social Development and the Women Action for Development.
Kh Norendro, president, CSD; Wangkhemcha Shyamjai, president AMWJU and Dhanabir Laishram, attended the programme as the president and guests of honour respectively.
