Two missing students found

Two standard VIII students of Huidrom Kainahal English School, who had gone missing from October 7 were found alive by AMSU volunteers at Keishampat bus parking area today.
Huidrom Bimolchandra, 13, s/o (L) H Open Singh of Waikhom Laimanai and Mayanglambam Rohit Meitei, 13, s/o M Bolen Singh of Langmeidong Bazar Awang Leikai had reportedly gone missing from October 7 morning, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) general secretary Manjit Sarangthem told media persons today.
The duo reportedly disappeared from their Boarding centre, Common Vision Boarding Cum Coaching centre at Langmeidong the before school hours allegedly after being punished the previous day by their School teacher Shivananda alias Mahadev for using unfair means in school examination.
AMSU vice president Khangembam Dhanajit found M Rohit at Imphal-CCpur bus parking today working as a ticket collector for one of the buses.
On his disclosure, Bimolchandra was found from Sangaiprou.
The duo have been handed over to their respective family members by AMSU volunteers at its head office today.
As per the Right to Education Act, 2009, school authorities/teachers are prohibited from giving physical punishment and mental harassment to school children between 6 to 14 years, the AMSU general secretary said.
The school authorities violated the RTE Act, 2009, causing the flight of the children, he said.
He further appealed to the State Education Department and school authorities to take the matter seriously and implement RTE Act in letter and spirit so as to avoid such incidents in the future.
