Imphal, October 10 2015 :
The United Meitei Young Forum (UMYF) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National president Amit Shah and BJP National general secretary Ram Madhav regarding the safeguard of Meitei Hindu in Manipur through Ram Madhav during his visit to Manipur yesterday at Hotel Imphal.
In the memorandum, UMYF pointed out that the glory history of the Meetei who embraced Hinduism have now become a taboo.
"The Hindu Meetei is now diminishing day after day.
One-tenth of the geographical space known as valley in Manipur is opened to all communities.
There are more than 300 odd tribal-Christian villages in the valley and maintained a harmonious coexistence without a slightest objection from their Meitei Hindu brethren.
Whereas, the Hindu Meitei king who had enjoyed his sovereignty for over the centuries together and the ruling race with the support of the hills tribesmen of the erstwhile kingdom are not allowed to claim even a piece of land in the hills of Manipur that forms 90 pc of the total geographical area in Manipur," it said.
This is the unwanted gift offered to the Meitei community after insertion of a clause under Article 371 C of the Indian Constitution, it said.
Meiteis are distinguished differently because they embrace Hinduism in a Christians surrounded valley.
On the ILP issue, the UMYF said it was the voice of the people to protect the indigenous people from the onslaught of demographic invasion.
The Manipur Assembly passed the Bills responding to the call of the people.
