Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi in collaboration with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal conducted a one day symposium on 'Life and works of Pandit Ningthoukhongjam Khelchandra Singh, Padmashree', at Government Dance College, Palace gate, Imphal today.
Gautam Paul, Officer in-charge, Regional Office, Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata; Professor H Behari Singh, Convenor, Manipur Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi; Professor Th Tomba Singh, President, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Imphal and Professor L Sadananda Singh, EC Member, Manipur Sahitya Parishad graced the symposium as presidium members.
Padmashree Pandit N Khelchandra was among the most celebrated historian of the State.
During his lifetime, the writer had contributed notable prose collections centreing on old Manipuri history, literature and language.
RK Jhaljit Singh moderated the first session of the symposium.
B Kulachandra Sharma, N Indramani and Dr Th Ibohanbi Singh spoke on the topics, 'Khelchandra's life and identification of his works', 'Khelchandra : In context with Old Manipuri Language' and 'Khelchandra : In context of history of old Manipuri literature' respectively.
DR L Saratchandra, N Birachandra Singh and Dr Y Kunjabihari Singh also spoke at the occasion.
