Imphal, April 02 2015 :
Following the FCI authority's permission to conduct e-tender for selection of transport contractors for transportation of FCI rice from Silchar to Imphal, the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union has withdrawn their decision to seal FCI godowns of Sangaiprou and Koirengei from April 11 .
To hold e-tender for selection of transport contractors at the Imphal FCI regional office and empower the regional office as a full fledged office were the two main demands of the union.
Other than these demands there have been instances when the FCI regional office has been lambasted.
Highlighting the twin demands, the union submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on March 23 last.
In response to the memorandum, FCI's Chairman cum Managing Director has given due permission to hold e-tender for selection of transport contractors at the FCI regional office of Imphal, claimed the union's president S Manglem.
Following the authority's permission, e-tender notice has been already issued.
Saying that the FCI Chairman cum Managing Director has further assured to make the Imphal FCI regional office a full fledged office, Manglem informed that the union has withdrawn its decision to seal the FCI godowns of Sangaiprou and Koirengei from April 11 .
On behalf of the union, Manglem conveyed gratitude to Union CAF&PD Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Chief Minister O Ibobi, State CAF&PD Minister M Okendro, FCI Chairman cum Managing Director and officials of the Imphal FCI regional office for their collective efforts to hold the e-tender process at Imphal.
