Imphal, April 02 2015 :
A two day free OPD camp for heart patients concluded today at Sky Hospital, RIMS Road.
Altogether 75 patients were examined at the camp.
Fortis Hospital, New Delhi Executive Director and Dean, cardiologist Prof Dr Upendra Kaul examined the patients who came to the camp.
Dietary composition of food items is very helpful to heart as they contain lots of vegetables.
But changing food habits has led to growth of heart problems among the people of Manipur and the entire North East region, Prof Kaul said.
High cholesterol, smoking, chewing tobacco, high BP, obesity, anxiety and diabetes are some major factors which breed heart problems.
Giving aspirin tablet immediately after a person suffers heart attack can reduce the chance of fatality by 20 per cent.
He prescribed regular exercises, sufficient quantities of vegetables and fruits in order to keep heart problems at bay.
