2 killed in factional clash

Imphal, August 29 2026:
Two individuals including the chief secretary of ZUF (Kamson) have been killed in two incidents of factional clash between ZUF (Jenchui) and ZUF (Kamson).
Six cadres of the two factions sustained injuries in the clash that took place at two locations in Noney district.
The first incident happened at Puichi under Haochong sub-division of Noney district at around 4.30 pm on August 28, sources said.
According to the sources, ZUF(Kamson) was organising a football tournament at Puichi in commemoration of the 95th death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang.
As some men of ZUF (Kamson) were making preparations for the football tournament, some cadres of ZUF (Jenchui) came there and shot dead ZUF (Kamson)'s chief secretary Nguiba alias Dingtiplung Gonmei.
The two rival factions clashed again at around 6 am today.
As ZUF (Jenchui) cadres were coming back from Haochong, ZUF (Kamson) cadres ambushed them at Khumji (Lukhambi-4) .
One ZUF (J) cadre was killed in the ambush while six others sustained injuries, said the sources.
The deceased ZUF(J) cadre has been identified as Jangailing Gonmei (37) of Taosang Pinjang village.
The six ZUF(J) cadres who sustained injuries have been brought to Imphal by a team of CRPF .
Out of the six, five have been admitted to JNIMS Hospital.
The other one whose condition is said to be serious is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.
The injured cadres have been identified as Nelson Gangmei (38) from Tousem sub-division, Sharon Inpui (30) of Puichi, Noney; Gaina Kamei (30) of Nung-ba, Kalanthui Kamei (20) of Nungba, Disinthui Gonmei (32) of Kaiphundaijaeng and Pouchuilung (18) of Nungba.
Sharon Inpui is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital in serious condition, said the sources.
