VDF Welfare Association submits memo to PM Modi

The All Manipur Village Defence Force Welfare Association has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the grievances of more than 10,000 VDF personnel in the State.
The memorandum stated that VDF personnel in the State render duties assigned to them which are not lesser than that of the assignments given to normal Manipur police personnel but only to be paid meagrely.
The memorandum stated that the honorarium of the VDF personnel should be given under the ways of skill labour which is fixed by the Labour Department, Government of India and to give thirteen month pay to all the VDF personnel with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, All Senapati VDF Welfare Association has urged to all the VDF personnel in the district not to leave their respective posting station but to abstain from their duties.
Anyone failing to follow the directive of the association should bear his own responsibility in future, warned Mlun Kipgen, general secretary, All Senapati VDF Welfare Association.
All India Trade Union Congress general secretary, Gurudas Das Gupta had earlier sent a communiqu� to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on March 31 for his intervention to address issues of the VDF personnel and to release the arrested VDF personnel.
