Imphal, April 02 2015 :
Expressing serious concern over the grim prospect of many students of UNACCO School losing their academic career due to the ban imposed on the school by the locals, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) said the responsibility should be equally shared by UNACCO school authority and the locals who imposed the ban on the school.
Saying that many students from different parts of the State are studying at UNACCO school although the school is located at Khongman, DESAM in a statement appealed to the locals to lift the ban in the best interest of the students.
It also condemned the act of imposing a ban on the school by the locals due to a misunderstanding with Irabanta.
Following a complaint from both sides the locals and UNACCO school authority, a team of DESAM went to Khongman to discuss the matter.
However, the school authority failed to turn up till date.
The case of denying admission to students because of a misunderstanding with their parents and locals is not reasonable and is not expected from a school authority, it said while adding that the career of the students should not in any way be jeopardised.
On the other hand, DESAM said that it is not a favourable act to impose a ban on the school and construction work due to a dispute with the Managing Director Irabanta.
It further appealed to the locals to lift the ban in the interest of the students.
The students' body also condemned the ban imposed on some Catholic schools by KCP (MC).
It said that the recent trend of imposing a ban on schools could not be taken lightly as it is posing a threat to the healthy growth of the society.
DESAM also said that it would convene a discussion session on the banning of Catholic schools on April 6 at Little Flower School while informing all concerned to attend the meeting positively.
