The Eastern Kuki Chief Association (EKCA) has strongly refuted the statement of RPF/PLA on the recent Kamjong attack which according to the outfit was carried out after the locals of the area requested PLA to teach a lesson to the AR personnel for disturbing and harassing civilians, reports Mungchan Zimik.
Condemning the incident, EKCA president J Haokip clarified that the news article published in a local daily in which PLA had reportedly stated "The offensive was launched after the locals of the area requested the PLA to teach a lesson to the AR personnel who have been causing disturbance and harassment to the civilians and passers-by on a daily basis" was baseless.
J Haokip said that the statement has created confusion and misunderstanding between the AR personnel and the locals.
Asserting that the people of Kamjong have no relation or connection with any armed militant group, J Haokip added that blaming civilians will only upset the populace.
EKCA appealed the RPF/PLA group to respect the lives of the civilians and villagers.
It also urged the outfit to shun the culture of violence and uphold the spirit of co-existence.
